Yahoo Acquires Contacts Apps-Maker Xobni
Xobni has been acquired by Yahoo, the company said today.
Xobni, which launched its first product in 2007, was co-founded by Adam Smith, who remains as CEO, and Matt Brezina, who is now CEO of Sincerely.
“Did you ever meet someone who truly ‘gets’ you? That?s how we feel about Yahoo. The power within every Xobni product is that it responds to how you communicate … That can benefit not just your inbox or smartphone, but the many services you use. Yahoo gets that, and they want us to use our platform to make many Yahoo! services better for you … We look forward to letting the results speak for themselves,” Xobni posted on its blog.
San Francisco-based company is relocating to Yahoo headquarters in Sunnyvale.
The company is no longer accepting premium subscriptions, but existing users will be able to use the products through July 2, 2014, at which time many products will shut down.
Xobni’s Gmail and iPhone “Smartr” apps remain, for the time being, available for download.
